I CARE ABOUT YOU AND iT REALLY MATTERS.
I haphazardly posted to Instagram about a new-to me clean beauty brand that I was excited to try. I never expected my friends to be as interested as they were. What does clean beauty and skin care have to do with design?? Nothing really, but I love to give recommendations and share things that make my life better.
WHY SHOULD YOU CARE
Our personal care products in the US are filled with chemicals that are founded to be carcinogenic, hormone disruptors, causing allergies/sensitivity and even toxic to the body and the environment. According to the Credo Dirty List, The European Union has banned 1300 ingredients in the formulation of their personal care products. The US? We have banned just over 30. Scary right?!
WHERE should I SHOP
Credo is one of my favorite places to shop for clean products, as their “Dirty List” is over 2700 ingredients long. This is not sponsored, I am just a fan. I call Credo the “Sephora of Real Clean Beauty”. Sorry Sephora! I also like The Detox Market. Both have LA based stores, if you’re more of an in person shopper.
The good news is that the more we speak with our dollar, stores like Sephora are being pushed to offer larger selections of clean lines (including some of my favorites below). With that, I will warn that Sephora’s clean standards are much less stringent than I am comfortable with, so I don’t take their stamp of approval as a guarantee without doing my own research. They do carry some great options though…I am looking at you, Tata Harper.
Below is a list of my favorite products and brands, ranging from luxe to super affordable. Please note: Every brand has products in their line that vary in their “cleanliness”…more clean to less clean. You have to do your digging. The www.EWG.org is a great online resource and I also like using the app "Think Dirty". It’s so easy and quick.

This is also another overall winner. I wear Color + Light: Crème blush/highlighter everyday in the color Velvet Melon. I also use the tinted face oil , the LipFuel Hyaluronic Lip Balm, Weightless Lipstick

Another great place to start if you’re new to the clean world. I use their Radiant All Over Bronzer daily. I also like their Velvet Eyeshadow Palette

I live for Doctor’s Scrub Exfoliator. It’s pricey and worth it.
Weleda
Skin food light Nourishing Cream is my go to night cream but it is thick. This is also found at healthfood stores.

I love it all but I regularly use their Clarifying Cleanser
Dr. Harushka
You can find this at health food stores and I use the Rose Day Cream
ACURE
So affordable and sold at Target which is great. I use the Brightening Cleansing Gel and Scrub
Burt's Bees
I use the Nourishing Face Oil with my gua sha in the mornings. I also buy their brown eyeliner because it’s inexpensive and don’t feel bad when I melt the tip to do my signature daytime, smudgy smoky eye
Agent Nateur
They have luxe natural deodorants. I go for Holistick
Primally Pure
Charcoal Deodorant is another great natural deodorant, that I switch back and forth between.
Dr. Bronner's
I have use this soap as body wash for as long as I can remember.
